Mocksville, North Carolina, November 8, 2023 –West Bend, a music and events venue in Lewisville, North Carolina, and Sterling Events Group, an event management firm in Mocksville, NC, announced today a partnership to market and operate wedding, social, corporate, and non-profit events for West Bend.
Established as a winery in the early 1970s, West Bend has been a staple in the Triad and known more recently for community gatherings and live musical performance events. The main structure on the property, the historic Joel Benjamin Hauser House, features the Tavern Room with a covered deck that overlooks their outdoor event pavilion and rolling hills. Significant upgrades and additions are planned, beginning with a new, spacious event pavilion to be ready for Spring and Summer events in 2024.
Cory Coe, a seasoned professional in music, production, and event planning, had always dreamed of owning and running an event venue. His journey to West Bend began in the spring of 2023 when he started talks with the previous owners, The Breathwits, who closed the Tavern in September 2022. He and his wife Alyssa, soon connected with Josh and Whitney Shore, Bryan McGee, and Jerry and Susan Chapman, creating a dynamic team. Together, they formed a friendship that would become the foundation of their collaboration. As Coe puts it, “We started as strangers and now we’re like family!”
“We have the same aspirations and goals,” Whitney Shore said, “and we want to pour into the community just as much as the community pours into us.”
Josh Shore added, “When we opened the venue, we knew it would be a lot of hard, but fulfilling work. We knew what a treasure this property was to the community and are grateful for the support we see week after week. While we do plan to continue to host community and live performance events throughout the year, private events were always on our radar. As we began to receive more and more private event requests, we knew that bringing in an experienced team to help market and operate these types of events was a smart business decision. With all of the knowledge in event management and operations that Sterling holds, they were the perfect partner for us.”
Sterling Events Group, through its Sterling Spaces division, will focus on sales, marketing, and operational duties at the venue, providing West Bend and their clients new services including food and beverage and full bar services, event staffing, operational and accounting systems, and a wide range of exclusive rental décor and soft furnishings reserved for Sterling-managed venues. Sterling also owns and operates WinMock at Kinderton in Bermuda Run, manages Triple J Manor House, manages event marketing and operations at both the new downtown Kaleideum in Winson Salem and the historic Holt House in Lexington.
